  1. This has been a goal of mine this year. Keep my desk clean and organized! It's been a little junky, but by the end of the day, everything is put up and in its place. But my desk has been there before piles of papers, things to assemble, lesson plan binders, ugh! You're right..just keep your head up!

  3. I said, "Boy, I really need to clear off my desk!" One of my little cuties said, "Why bother, you never sit there!"

  4. You crack me up!! This year I made a goal to have my desk "cleared" off before I go home. Well, after 24 years, you would think I had that mastered. Your desk looks like mine does about 3:30 each day.

  6. I love my Lilly Pulitzer pink and green desk. I, my friend am seriously OCD. My desk is NEVER funky. I just can't handle it! And trust me when I say can't handle...all my paper clips are pink and green...NO silver for me! I have been this way for 21 years in my classroom. I don't plan on changin' any old time!

  7. I'm so glad I'm not the only one...It's amazing what ends up on my desk throughout the day. Technically, I got rid of my desk this year and only have a reading table. So I REALLY have to keep it cleaned off!

  8. Depends on the day. Today, I had a staff meeting so no time to clean up. One thing I learned when I first started teaching was to "fake" clean up. What does that mean? I just grab whatever is on my desk and stack it on one nice neat pile. Never mind that none of it goes together, I sort it all out in the morning. :P

  9. Don't feel bad! I clean my desk every second day and still end having one that looks like yours! I have a much bigger desk this year and I thought this would help keeping it neater, however it has only resulted in me putting MORE stuff on it!!! Thanks for making me laugh and feel better about my messy desk!!!!

  10. My desk looked like that for the better part of the day. The only problem is that the document camera is on my desk to. Like Ms. M said, it was in a somewhat "neat" pile. I spent a good part of the afternoon cleaning up my area. I can find my stuff again. Well, that is, until I start teaching tomorrow. :)

  11. Too funny! The first thing on my "to do" list today was organize my desk!!! I wish I could keep it clean, but I tend to just pile stuff on it during the day!

  12. Seriously, I was thinking the SAME thing today. Before school started I had everything (pretty much) in order, my desk was great my plan was to STAY TOGETHER... but how quickly things go awry when you have to leave early (well on time really) to take kids to ballet and soccer and CCD and you can't get their early because you have to get your kids on the bus.

I will tackle my desk before the weekend!

  13. Oh my gosh, that's how my desk looks everyday! I just cleaned it off last week, but no matter what I do, it seems to always end up cluttered again the next day! You're right, sometimes it's all we can do to stay afloat! :)

  14. I wish there was a "like" button I could click - like on Facebook - by each of your comments!!! Thank you so much for making me feel like I am not alone! :) MAYBE I will be able to snap a picture of my CLEAN desk by Friday - but I somehow doubt it because between now and then I have to post grades for the first time which always takes the longest - clicking on each letter/sound/number that every child knows takes FOREVER and we also have a Science Lab Log due by Friday - oh and the usual planning/creating/making...Fun times!!! :)

  15. Haha! I love it! My desk looks the same on a daily basis. I rearranged my room this year and my desk is no longer hid behind shelves - I am thinking that I need to just put it back! Last year one of my kids said to me "Wow, you must have a lot to do!" while looking at my desk.

At any rate, my open house is tomorrow and I am panicking about my little mess. Thanks for letting me know I am not the only one whose desk looks this way!

  16. Wow ... I don't know you from Adam, but I feel a kindred conncetion with you. Yes, my desk has been used as an example for the vocabulary word "cluttered" on MANY occassions. To be honest, a friend of mine talked me into buying some nesting boxes to "hide" my stuff in while the day is going, that way it isn't a distraction. Do I use them? Eh... sometimes. Generally, I wait and just try to clean up at the end of the day. I hope that you have a WONDERFUL Friday!

  17. Oh my dear colleagues.. I think if we had neat desks at the end of the day.. the children would think we had not done anything all day! My class knows when I have to be out for a day and they are going to have a sub, as my table is immaculate ( with nice neat piles of "work/ stuff" on the shelf!) I am not "allowed " to have a desk as it would be cluttered too! LOL! Hang in there everyone!

  18. I loved reading these comments!!! sometimes I feel like I am drowning by the end of the day but my feeling is that a messy desk at the end of the day shows how little time is spent at it during the day...instead, we are working with our kids and piling, piling, piling :)

  19. I'd sweat that was my desk! Well, back when I use to have a desk. I got rid of it this year in hopes that it would keep my paperwork more organized but now the mess just ends up on the flat file by the end of the day. Sigh.
